AA SL covers real, substantive mathematics, algebra, functions, trigonometry, statistics, and calculus. The goal isn't just to pass: it's to understand what you're doing and walk into the exam with genuine confidence.
AA SL students often arrive with one of two feelings: either they're managing but not confident, or they're genuinely struggling and worried about the exams. Both are common. Both are fixable. The AA SL syllabus has clear content, once a student understands the underlying logic of each topic, rather than just memorising procedures, the exam becomes much more manageable.
I work with AA SL students at every point in the programme, early in Year 1 to build solid foundations, mid-Year 2 to consolidate topics, and in the final months before exams for focused past paper preparation. The right time to start is whenever you are right now.
AA SL has two papers. Paper 1 is calculator-free, it tests clean algebraic manipulation, exact values, and the ability to work through problems by hand. Paper 2 allows the GDC but still requires you to show method. A large number of SL marks are lost not because students don't know the maths, but because they don't show their working clearly.
We work through real past papers in our sessions. I mark your work the way an examiner would, identifying where method marks were lost and how to avoid those losses. Over time, this builds the exam habit that turns partial understanding into reliable marks.
"Before I started classes with Patricia, I didn't like the subject very much. Over time I've grown to love it. She really got me through my DP journey in the best way possible."
"In such a short amount of time, so much has become clearer and easier to understand. The progress I made, despite limited time, honestly feels like a huge improvement."
