IB Math Tutor · 7+ Years · Online Worldwide
IB Math tutor specialising in AA and AI, HL and SL. I've helped hundreds of students worldwide go from struggling to confident, and from target grade to achieved grade.
I started tutoring IB Math because I remembered what it felt like to sit in a classroom and feel like the only person who didn't understand. Not because I wasn't capable, but because the explanation didn't click for me. The way I was being taught didn't match the way I thought.
That experience became my foundation as a tutor. I don't teach IB Math the way a textbook teaches it. I teach it the way you need to hear it, finding the analogy, the visual, the question sequence that makes the concept land. Every student has a different way in.
Over 7+ years, I've worked with students from across the world, different schools, different educational backgrounds, different levels of confidence. What I've learned from each of them has made me a better tutor. I approach every new student as an opportunity to find out how they think, and adapt from there.
"Math isn't about being smart enough. It's about perspective. Every student who tells me they're 'bad at maths' just hasn't found the right angle yet.", Patricia Akao
I don't believe in the idea that some people are "maths people" and others aren't. What I do believe in is that understanding looks different for everyone, and that the job of a good tutor is to find the path that works for each individual student, not to deliver a generic explanation and hope it sticks.
My lessons are not scripted. I listen, I ask questions, I notice where the hesitation is, and I build from there. Sometimes the right move is a worked example. Sometimes it's asking the student to explain their thinking back to me. Often it's catching the small misconception that's been quietly blocking progress for months.
The goal isn't just a better grade, though that consistently happens. The goal is a student who understands what they're doing, trusts themselves in the exam, and doesn't dread the next topic.

I've worked with students from international schools across Europe, Asia, the Americas, the Middle East, and Australia. The IB Diploma Programme is global, and so is my practice. Students come to me at every stage, some in Year 1 building foundations, others in the final weeks before exams, and I adapt to where they are.
I specialise in the IB Diploma Programme exclusively. That means I know the syllabus in depth, I understand what IB examiners are looking for, and I know exactly how the markscheme works. I don't tutor general secondary school maths or university level, only IB Math, and I do it well.
Everything is online. Notes from every session are saved and accessible for review.
Live video sessions. We can see each other, share screens, and work through problems in real time, just like sitting at the same table.
Digital whiteboard. I write out solutions, annotate diagrams, and build worked examples step by step. Notes stay accessible after the lesson.
All annotations and worked examples are saved digitally. If you need to revisit an explanation before an exam, your notes are there.
Support between sessions. Got a question mid-week? Send a message. I'm available and I respond.
